A Time to Reflect

We all know that the holiday season is a time for celebration, for generosity and often for spoiling our loved ones!

But it’s also a time to reflect.

With our first child due in March, for me this Christmas will likely be the last for a long time without the joys of an hysterically excited young boy and the challenges of assembling presents late in to the night on Christmas Eve.

No matter your religion – whether you celebrate Christmas or something else – the lessons of generosity, goodwill and giving to the less fortunate are ones worth thinking about this festive season.

For many families, this time of year means pressure to spend money to satisfy the dizzying array of demands for food, parties and presents – to spend money whether they have it or not.

In Logan, we’re very fortunate to live in a community with so many locals who look out for people and look after people.

If you’re struggling this Christmas, know that there are groups that can come to your assistance – local churches, the Salvation Army and telephone lines like Lifeline Australia (13 11 14).

And if you’re fortunate enough to be able to spare some time, money or gifts for those in need this Christmas, get in touch with our local community groups and lend a helping hand.

Thank you for the honour of representing you through 2014, and all the very best wishes for the year ahead.
