The state election this weekend is your chance to protect local jobs and frontline services from the Newman Government and stop the sale of your public assets.

It’s an opportunity for us to say 'no' to a State Government who doesn't listen to this community and 'no' to a Government who has been a rubber stamp to Mr Abbott's deep and wide-ranging attacks on our neighbours and loved ones.

I urge you to support Labor's local candidates. They are terrific people I’ve known for a long time, including: Shannon Fentiman in Waterford, Linus Power in Logan, Mick de Brenni in Springwood and Cameron Dick in Woodridge. All are tireless advocates for our community in Logan who I look forward to working with in the future.

Unlike the LNP incumbents, they won’t vote to sell your assets. A Labor Government will use the profits they make to pay down debt and restore frontline jobs in health and education.

They want to invest in frontline services – in teachers, nurses and public transport – not cut them.

They will also work with Annastacia Palaszczuk to implement her jobs plan by reviving the TAFE system and creating more apprenticeships for young people.

For all Mr Newman's talk of creating jobs before the last election, unemployment in Queensland is higher now than when he took office nearly three years ago.

I urge you not to reward Campbell Newman’s arrogance and broken promises. At the ballot box, vote for a local Labor candidate who will stand up for this community.
