For us lucky people living in one of the most multicultural communities in Australia, Harmony Day last weekend has a special significance.
We’re very fortunate to share this special area with people from 189 different homelands which shows in the diversity of cultures, costumes and cuisines on display on Harmony Day celebrations in our community.
Last Friday, I was pleased to join Access Community Services for their fantastic Taste of Harmony lunch at their appropriately-named café Harmony on Carmody.
There was fantastic food and music at the lunch, and people from around the world who counted themselves as fortunate to call Australia and Logan their home.
It’s wonderful to set aside a day each year to reflect on our diversity, but it’s really our job to ensure that every day in Logan is Harmony Day.
Every day we need to acknowledge and celebrate the things that make us different, while working to strengthen the values and aspirations we share.
Let’s remember the spirit of Harmony Day in this community and celebrate our multiculturalism every day.
