This week we’re celebrating thirty years of an incredible contributor to our local community – YFS on Kingston Road.
Over the past three decades, YFS – Youth and Family Services – has helped out countless people in our area when they’ve been through difficult times or need to improve their circumstances.
The work they do is tremendously diverse, ranging from financial counselling and legal advice to employment, housing, community education and domestic violence services.
On Friday, they are celebrating their 30th birthday with a lunchtime Party in the Park at Rowan Park in Slacks Creek.
They’ve advertised the occasion as a “gesture of thanks to the Logan community.”
But in reality, it’s an occasion for the many members of the local community who have been touched by their selfless work to thank YFS.
It coincides with a campaign they have underway to recruit four #R4Respect Youth Ambassadors in Logan.
The Youth Ambassadors will receive a $2,000 scholarship and will be responsible for promoting the values and behaviours for respectful relationships in our community.
With domestic and family violence being such a major public health issue, we’ll be looking to the #R4Respect Youth Ambassadors to provide community awareness and education on this important topic.
This is just one of the many significant programs underway at YFS today.
On behalf of so many in our community, I say thank you to Cath Bartolo and the team at YFS for their tremendous service, and wish them all the best for another thirty successful years of service to our community.
