“Every child, every opportunity” – that’s the philosophy behind Logan Together, the exciting new initiative launched at Griffith University Logan Campus last week.

Among all the fantastic programs going on in our community, Logan Together is one of those I’m most excited about.

That’s because its goal is to pull together all the resources of our community – our tremendous support groups, our experienced leaders and our devoted community workers – to improve the chances of Logan children.

While thousands of kids grow up and thrive in Logan, there are some children in our area who start life with greater barriers to success than they should.

We’ve still got some work to do to pull our rates of in-home reading, attendance at pre-schooling and NAPLAN results up to the state and national averages.

It’s in our children’s best interests and in the interests of the long-term prosperity of our community as well.

The director, Matthew Cox, has been a great choice of leader for this project and will be well-supported by his team and by all three levels of Government.

But for the project to achieve its goals and succeed in the long-term, it will need the support of all our local community groups, and every individual interested in the success of our community.

Given the significance of this project, I’m sure it’s a cause we can all rally behind.
